Man on the Street is Greg Kristapovich
“What kind of change would YOU like to see in this New Year?”
(asked in Twain Harte)
“I’d like to see more business come to Twain Harte. It’s a great place to come; a great place to live! We just need more businesses to flourish here. I think we have more than enough realtors – and more than enough restaurants. We need different kinds of specialty shops. We’ve lost our music store (Village Tunes); we need something that can be combined with that; or, perhaps a gadget store, like for kitchen gadgets with spices and things like that! I think people need to get creative. We do have Sierra Cellars, now, so we do have wine tasting – which is a plus!” – Shirley Vierth, Mi-Wuk Village, (events planner)
“I just hope for some job opportunities, because there’s nothing out there right now. I’ve done retail sales, janitorial, woodcutting. There’s nothing right now. I’m going to school, but that doesn’t pay bills. I’m taking business management at Columbia College. Hopefully things will turn around when I’m done with that, because right now, like I said, there’s nothing – and I’ve looked everywhere! It’s ridiculous.” – Josh Connell, Twain Harte, (seeking employment)
“Less taxes, more jobs and less politics – ‘cause they’re the ones that seem to mess up everything that we’re doin’! I think there are too many taxes. This state, this county; everything is taxes! If they could cut it back, that would be terrific. And less politics! It’s getting out of hand!” – Joe Fernandes, Twain Harte, (bar manager)
“In Twain Harte, I’d like to see the people support the merchants; to give them the support that is needed to keep Twain Harte alive in 2010, and beyond.” – Lori Smith, Twain Harte, (gas station owner)
“I would like God’s kingdom (government) to replace the government that we have in place at this time, (man’s government).” – Natalie Ann, Twain Harte, (hairstylist)
