Postal Service Delivers…and Takes
Marion, IA – Neither snow nor rain not heat nor gloom of night will keep the postal service from delivering mail, but in this case, it also won’t keep them from getting drunk, breaking in and eating your food. An Iowa postal carrier has been arrested and charged for public intoxication after being found sitting on the kitchen floor of a house in Marion eating leftover noodles with her hands. Police say the 46-year-old woman got inside the house through an unlocked door.
As she enjoyed the noodle snack, the 95-year-old homeowner was watching TV in the living room. Hearing a noise, she headed toward the kitchen where she discovered the mail lady on the floor. She was found with her mail-carrying bag next to her. A preliminary breath test revealed her blood alcohol content was .281. Not only was she arrested, but the 17-year employee of the Post Office has been placed on unpaid leave.
Location, Location, Location…
Canoga Park, CA – There has to be a better place to start a large-scale marijuana growing operation than behind a Los Angeles police station. Police recently busted a sophisticated marijuana farm inside an industrial building 25 feet from the back door of the Topanga Community Police Station after officer’s smelled marijuana coming from the building. They notified the narcotics unit which started an investigation. They noticed that traffic in and out of the building was very minimal, the ventilation had been upgraded, the utility bills were much higher, and the farmers had gone to great lengths to filter the air coming out of every hole that might leak to the outside. “All the places where the smell might have come had been plugged with liquid caulking,” said one agent. “But it was not enough. The operation had been going on for about eight months…but their luck ran out.” Three suspects were arrested and taken next door.
Don’t Text and Drive
Medford, NJ – It’s bad when you run down a bicyclist while driving and it’s worse if it’s because you’re texting…about the drugs your going to sell. Police say a bicyclist was hit by a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass on Route 70 while the driver was texting about a drug deal. The 28-year-old New Jersey man has been charged with drug possession with the intent to distribute after an undisclosed amount of unauthorized prescription drugs were found in his car Monday. Investigators said the man was seen driving erratically when his vehicle drifted onto the shoulder and hit a 42-year-old bicyclist who was airlifted to a hospital for treatment. Following the accident, the driver told police he was “texting” while driving and didn’t remember the collision. Further investigation revealed that his text message concerned the sale of prescription drugs.
