Party Bussin’ Through the Mountains by Greg Kristapovich
Aboard the Halloween Party Bus… Riders Have a Rollicking Good Time
Controlled chaos aboard the Halloween Party Bus! Indeed, it was a fun and fantastic ride for all! The gracious hostesses on the bus were witches : Shirley Vierth of Any Event, Inc. (left), Diane Dunigan, owner of the Rock In Twain Harte.
The bus was full of strange characters – and some strangely familiar. There was a priest, a nun, the Angel of Death – and a few rows away, a pimp – with a big, floppy hat and copious amounts of garish bling hanging from his neck and wrists! When he opened his mouth, lots of multi-colored lights blinked all over inside!! He laughed arrogantly when I told him, “You know, we usually don’t see any pimps in this area.” I cautioned him, that he might want to keep his activities off the street, as there were a lot of police out.
“He was a good boy, so we let him out for the night! says “correctional officer” Crystal Masters of Jamestown, referring to “inmate” Mark Masters (also of Jamestown). And just what crime(s) did Mr. Masters commit? “Oh, we have a list!” officer Masters revealed. “Not doing my chores!” inmate Masters confessed. “And stealing Halloween candy from the kids!” Officer Masters added.
Also on the bus were a couple witches, Dracula, Little Red Riding Hood and her partner, The Big Bad Wolf! “Mr. Bud”, aka, The Human Beer Bottle was along for the ride, too! Indeed, you can meet some pretty interesting characters on a Party Bus; and there are some obvious advantages to taking the bus: it saves gas, eliminates parking headaches and eliminates your chances of getting pulled over for a sobriety test! And get this: unlike your own vehicle, open containers ARE allowed on the party bus!
American Made Band, rocked Big Daddy’s Smokin’ BBQ! Here, lead guitarist Ralph Souza turns his attention to Lt. Uhura from the Starship Enterprise (actually, she’s Susanne DeCaccia of Sonora)!
On Halloween night the Party Bus, provided by Dave DeCheney’s Link Line, Inc., travelled a continuous loop between four hot spots: from Lupita’s Eproson House (in Twain Harte), where James Faifua and the Jukes belted out some great blues-rock, to Confidence Inn (Confidence). There, Bobby and Natalia excited the crowd with their special blend of rock, pop, jazz and bosa nova! Then, on to Big Daddy’s Smokin’ BBQ (Sugar Pine), where American Made Band rocked the joint with rock, boogie and blues; and then to Diamond Jim’s (Mi-Wuk Village). There, the band, the Tail Lights rocked into the wee hours! Everyone had a blast! The next Party Bus will operate on New Year’s Eve! Don’t forget to buy a bottle of champagne for that ride!
“Bud Man” (Kevin Burns of Tuolumne) appears to be getting “carded” at the door by Big Daddy’s BBQ co-owner Lonnie Taylor – but he got in! Later that evening, Bud Man was named Best Costume on The Party Bus, and was awarded a $50 cash prize!
