“Who would YOU like to see at next year’s Ironstone Summer Concert Series?”
(asked throughout the Mother Lode)
“Well! We HAVE to round out Crosby, Stills & Nash by having Neil Young! So, for next year’s harvest moon, I would love to see Neil Young at Ironstone! What do I like about Neil? He’s very poetic and he doesn’t have any type of tag-line attached to him. He’s not afraid to try something new. He’s not afraid to broaden his horizons and he’s not afraid to really express himself. I love his songs, “Harvest Moon” and “Don’t Let It Get You Down.” – Becky Lanier, Murphys, (wine tasting/art gallery manager)
“I would like to see my friends’ band, “Four Minutes ‘till Midnight” when they’re famous, and maybe have them open for The Red Hot Chili Peppers, if we can get them to reunite! And definitely Neil Young! Neil Young is one of the greatest musicians who ever lived! Neil is just an amazing singer/songwriter! I love Neil’s songs, “After the Gold Rush” and “Southern Man”. My mom loves Neil Young, and I would love to take her to THAT show!” – Nicole Zuelke, Copperopolis, (model/bartender)
“I’d love to see Buddy Guy! Buddy is probably one of my favorite bluesmen. The guy plays with so much feeling! I’d love to see him! I missed him when he came to Ironstone (in 2008), but that’s O.K. He can come back! I’d also love to see B.B. King. He IS ‘The King’! He’s THE blues icon; one of the pillars in ‘the house of blues’! I know he was here two years ago, but I don’t care. I’d like to see him, ‘cause I missed that concert. I want to see B.B. while he’s still alive! I said that about John Lee Hooker. I went to see him and six months later he was dead!” – Tom Smith, Sonora, (gas station cashier)
“I would like to go see the Doobie Brothers, or the Eagles; or the Beach Boys – what’s left of them. I’d like to see the Doobies come back. That would be good! And they could have two shows for the Eagles, on back-to-back nights!” – Dennis Scroggs, Twain Harte, (barber shop owner)
“Neil Diamond! He’s the best! He’s still great! I saw him after forty years, practically, and he’s still good! I love ‘Sweet Caroline’, ‘Cracklin’ Rosie’, ‘I Am, I Said’. I’ve seen everybody else. I’d like to see Neil Diamond at Ironstone!” – John Gleason, Twain Harte, (real estate broker)
