Columbia Shows it’s Artful Side
The 37th Annual Fine Art Show!
Sometimes a hard-working artist needs a little ice cream break, as artist Debbie Bonsack (of Oakdale) will attest.

Columbia State Historic Park remains a living, breathing park and a “fully functioning town” – with many more special events planned! This Sunday, September 20th, the Columbia Chamber of Commerce will present their 37th Annual Fine Art Show, from 9am to 5pm! Paintings, pottery, photography and sculpture by more than 50 area artists will be featured! Admission is free. “This type of show really helps the artist,” explains Kim Kyhl, coordinator of the event. “No commission fee is charged, so all sales go to the artist! Also, any extra proceeds from the booth rentals support the Columbia Chamber of Commerce events. This is a great way to directly support local artists!” exclaimed Kyhl. So if you like art, plan to attend! Indeed, the Columbia Fine Art Show is perhaps the premier art show of the summer! For more information about the event, contact Kim Kyhl at (209) 536-0947.
Nancy Moreton works with her husband Russell in stone intarsia, (pietes of stone fit together to create a mosaic.) Their work – and love of art, has taken them to Brazil, Mexico, British Columbia, Australia and the US Southwest in search of different stones, and new techniques! Their work is also on display at Stoneground Studio in Downtown Sonora.
From the Bay Area, to Colorado, and finally to Columbia (living here for the last 21 years!): It’s Diane Borge, The Featured Artist this year! “It was in Colorado that I experienced the breathtaking beauty of the mountains, and the love of Aspen trees…but I always come home to California where we have such a great choice of beautiful landscapes! “
