Sonora Music Festival Rocks the Fairgrounds! Photos and Story by Greg Kristapovich
It should go down as one of the most electrifying rock and blues festivals in Mother Lode – no, make that California history! If you weren’t there, please allow me to present just a few of the many highlights at the Sonora Music Festival that took place on Saturday, August 8th! And, if it’s true, as some people say, “that a picture says a thousand words,” well, here is 5,000 words worth! Enjoy!
Johnny Winter, the legendary guitar “slinger” from Texas sat down in his chair and tore up the frets with lightening fast fingers! His guitar playing was nothing short of amazing!
Above: Watermelon Slim, (backed by his band, The Workers) with his gritty blues vocals, blew everybody away with his harmonica playing – and his steel guitar! Here Slim gives a tour-de-force performance on his harmonica!
Jason Ricci, an up-and-coming blues harmonica player also sings the blues with a lot of passion!
Mike Hammer (on guitar) and the Nails “hit the nail on the head” with each and every song!
Shane Dwight proved why he’s a blues guitar superstar!
