Sunscreen
When the weather gets warmer and we are out in the sun more and more, we are getting more exposure to the suns rays. It is time to think about products to protect our skin from the harmful rays of the sun. Whatever lotions you are using on your face should be at least SPF 15 and 30 SPF if you’re in the sun a lot. Always apply sunscreen to a clean face, and re-apply every two hours if you’re outside. Many face makeup companies are using sunscreen in their products and after-shave creams that are using sunscreen in them as well. Sunscreen will help keep your face from wrinkling early. Look for sunscreen products that include titanium dioxide or zinc oxide for best results. Our skin gets very dehydrated while we sleep, which is why it is best to moisturize our face before bed. And be sure to drink plenty of water to keep your body and skin hydrated.
Facials are another great way for cleaning and hydrating your skin. If you have never had one treat yourself, you will be hooked!

Got questions? Beauty consultant Penny Baptista is here to help.
Q: I am wondering if straight or curly hair is more in style?
A: For the last 2-3 years I have been watching the trend change from straight to curly. Put those flat irons away and bring out the curling irons. We will be seeing more curly hairstyles; perms will come back as well. Bouncy, sexy, full hair is now popular. You can also get full bouncy hair by setting it in rollers. Embrace the curls!
Q: I have been dyeing my hair at home and have been told that my hair is darker (almost black) but my roots are light brown. What can I do to even up my hair color?
A: You will need to get a hair color remover and apply to the darker color on the hair, to pull some of the pigment out of the hair. It will pull up a couple shades of color, not removing it completely. Then apply your new hair color, light to medium brown to root area first then apply to the rest of the hair leave on 30 minutes and then shampoo and condition. When you do a touch up again, don’t comb the color through or it will start to build up again, if needed when color becomes faded you can chunk some of the color on pieces of the hair around the natural part to blend the new color with the color already on your hair.
Q; I have had a lot of breakouts and pimples and wondering why? I am 48 and haven’t had pimples in years, why now?
A: A lot of things can cause an outbreak. You have to look at what is going on in your life. When anxiety and stress is prevalent in your life it can cause stress related skin problems like pimples, outbreaks, and rashes. You should relax, stop touching your face, keep it clean, and get plenty of sleep. If it continues see a dermatologist.
