Golf Rod Lincoln
Richfield, WI – After drinking at least 10 beers at a golf course on state Highway 167 and being left behind by the relatives who brought him there, a Wisconsin man decided to drive himself the nearly 40 miles back to his home – in a golf cart. The 47-year-old man didn’t even take the time to throw the empty beer cans out of the cart before hitting the road in the stolen cart. A deputy had already been called to the course due to a complaint about an intoxicated man, who was soon seen driving in a golf cart along the highway. The intoxicated driver was pulled over about a mile from the course. He was found with glassy and bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and eight open beer cans were found in the cart. The man admitted that he had consumed around 10 beers while at the golf course, but that he did not believe he was intoxicated. After the man failed field sobriety tests, a breath test indicated the man had a blood-alcohol level of 0.138. In addition to the offense of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, the man was ticketed on allegations of open intoxicants in a motor vehicle and failure to stop at a stop sign. One more charge and the officer could have yelled, “FORE!”
A Weapon Would Help
Crown, Tasmania – If you are going to rob a store, make sure you have a weapon of some sort so you can actually be a threat to the person at the cash register. A store clerk helpfully points out to a 27-year-old robber that to successfully conduct a hold-up, you need a weapon. The father-of-two was at the end of a four-day amphetamine binge when he walked into the united service station and said, “I want the money.” But words without action didn’t seem to faze the attendant. “You need a weapon,” he said. “I have to fear for my life. You can’t just have the money.” The man then took $400 from the register when the attendant opened it after serving a customer. “Sorry, I have no choice, I have to do it,” the thief said. The thief then took the money to a nearby McDonald’s restaurant where he bought a hamburger before heading to the casino where he lost the remainder on poker machines. He was arrested after police identified him from surveillance footage the following day.
Bad Timing Busts Burglars
Austin, TX – When robbing an illegal gaming room, be sure to take a quick look around to make sure the police aren’t in the middle of serving a search warrant. Two men who robbed a Southeast Austin game room with a pellet gun were thwarted by Austin police officers that were there to execute a search warrant. Talk about bad timing! After entering the gaming room they confronted an employee and pointed a realistic-looking gun at her. After stealing money from her work apron they were ready to make a break for it when they ran into officers who had entered the game room with a search warrant. “It’s very unusual,” said the police Capitan. “The officers were in the right place at the right time.” The 25-year-old and 32-year-olds have been charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony and remain in custody with bail set at $35,000 each.
