An Accident that Almost Bought the Farm
Terre Haute, IN – A man who flipped his car while driving drunk at 5 a.m. thought he would be able to get away unnoticed by towing his upside down car home by the use of a tractor. After the accident the 31-year old walked two miles to Plant Farms, where he worked, and took a tractor (without permission), which he hooked to his wrecked car and began dragging it away. All seemed to be going to plan…until he drove the tractor off a bridge. Police said that he lost control of the tractor on the bridge, pushing both vehicles into Otter Creek, but when they arrived on the scene the “driver” was nowhere to be found. However, after a tip, police found him hiding in a farmhouse where he was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a crash. Damage to the tractor was estimated at $150,000 and as much as $20,000 in damage was done to the bridge.
One Hundred and Fifty Third Time’s Not the Charm
Portsmouth, VA – There are two ways to look at getting arrested for the 153rd time…either change your lifestyle because you’re not very good at what you do, or keep going for some kind of pathetic record. A New Hampshire man seems to be leaning toward the second option. A week after serving a year in jail for stealing a $1.99 can of beer the 49-year-old was arrested for the 153rd time and charged with a misdemeanor of simple assault after hitting someone in the face in Market Square. He was also cited twice for violation-level offenses during his first week out of jail, once for a trespassing on the railroad tracks and another time for having an open container of beer. “I don’t need a lawyer,” he told the judge. “I’ve been in this court more than you have.” He later said that he shouldn’t have made the comment, adding, “I think I was intoxicated.” A former prosecutor said that the man is “a leech” and cited his criminal history as including eight trespass notices, 75 citations, four Social Security aliases and convictions for thefts, receiving stolen property, arson and criminal mischief. Stay tuned for what #154 is for…
A Bad Way to Jump Start Your Morning
Branch, AR – If you’ve decided to steal electricity to run your meth lab, it probably isn’t a good idea to use jumper cables…and if you do, be prepared for a broken back, neck and pelvis as well as “hardened organs.” This happened to an Arkansas man who was trying to steal electricity from a power pole to run to his nearby home. After placing a metal ladder on the pole the man tried to siphon the electricity with jumper cables. Guess what happened? Correct. He was electrocuted and fell to the ground breaking his back, neck, pelvis and his organs were hardened from the electricity, leaving him in critical condition. While deputies were investigating the theft of electricity, they found a meth lab in the man’s home. If released from the hospital he will be charged with theft of services and running a meth lab.
