Bartender’s Tips by CJ Schaffer
A Little bit about the Tipper…
I would like to introduce myself to The Sierra Mountain Times readers. My name is CJ. I will be writing a new advice column I hope everyone will enjoy. Advice in the dictionary is: “guidance or recommendations typically given by someone regarded as knowledgeable or authoritative.” So what makes me these things and why should people ask me for advice?
First, I am a bartender. People say that you tell your bartender or beautician things you would never tell anyone else, and let me tell you, it’s true. I have heard things from “I just found out my son is not mine, and I’ve been raising him for two years” to “my husband got into meth, and I don’t know what to do.” While these are extreme examples, and they are hard issues to deal with, I have always offered my unbiased and heartfelt advice for these people. Sometimes we need to hear from someone who is not involved in the situation, a third party, or someone we’ll more than likely never see again. I am offering this to our readers.
Second, I have a lot of life experience. I am a single mother (six years), college student, and an ex-… wife/ girlfriend/ make up artist/ timeshare sales person/ and business owner, to name a few of my experiences. In all of these I have learned about people, and oftentimes I have been able to help people with good advice when asked.
Last, I wanted to let you the readers know about me so you could feel more comfortable writing in. I hope that for some of you having a place to air out frustrations, or anonymously ask a question and have it answered by someone who can be objective will be a help, and to those of you who do not wish to write in I hope that this column will be an enjoyable read.
Thank you for your time and I hope to be hearing from you soon! ~ CJ
