In today’s fast-paced world it is easy to forget to take the time out of our hectic schedules to relax and reward our weary bodies with a much-needed break. One of the best blissful body experiences is to treat yourself to the comforts of a spa, and Resolutions Skin Care & Laser Spa in Sonora has everything you need to make your body look and feel it’s finest. Unlike most spas, Resolutions is set apart due to its technologically advanced medical treatments and offers the perfect blend of aesthetics and science for men and women’s skin care and fitness needs.
“We are definitely different from the standard spa you go to for a facial and a massage,” said Kerry Tweedy, Office Coordinator for Resolutions. “Our primary focus is usually on doing things to aesthetically improve people’s features to meet their needs in a manner that is not as intrusive as having surgery.”
Although Resolutions does provide facials, waxing and massages, its well-rounded staff is also skilled in the areas of BOTOX, Dermal Fillers, Cosmetic Laser Procedures, Lipodissolve and Permanent Makeup. Besides the welcoming smile of Kerry at the front desk, the Resolutions team is made up of Debbie Picchetti, esthetician; Debi Drake, massage and personal fitness trainer; Rhiannon Porteur, permanent makeup artist; Gunni Nevatt, RN; Medical Director Diane Anderson, RN; and Dr. Gerard E. Ardron, MD.
“Our staff is committed to helping our clients achieve well being through all of our rejuvenating services,” said Debbie. “People often overlook and neglect their skin and forget that it’s the largest organ in the body. “We always say, ‘Pamper the skin your in’ because when your skin feels good, you feel good.”
Diane Anderson relaxes as an advanced injection technique is used to administer dermal filler in her right cheek.
For the last four years Resolutions has been making its customers feel good about themselves through their impressive skin care options.
“We have a lot of parents who bring their kids in to do acne facials and acne treatments,” said Debbie. “It is amazing to witness the difference it makes to a fifteen or sixteen year old when they walk out of here feeling better about themselves. Facials are also great to have before a wedding, special event or just because you need to pamper yourself a little. You may come in feeling tired or frazzled but when you leave you’ll be relaxed and ready to put your best face forward.”
I will admit that although I had no clue what a facial even was before I walked into Resolutions, after receiving one, I definitely felt refreshed and rejuvenated. At first I felt a little awkward, but once Debbie assured me that guys come in to get facials all the time, I soon relaxed and enjoyed the experience. Lying on a cushioned table in a cozy, darkened room I was surrounded by the soothing sounds of waves and birds as Debbie massaged lotions into my hands, arms and face. I was then wrapped in warm towels and felt all the tension melt away and realized that this was a treatment I could definitely get used to. I’m not going to lie; it was great! For those who have never experienced this pleasant, pampered treatment, I highly recommend it.
Dr. Gerard Ardron, MD and Diane Anderson, RN assisted by Debi Drake, perform laser procedures on clients.
“To complete the full body experience, our Esthetician, Debbie, also provides chemical peels, waxing and body wraps for our clients. Debi Drake, our Massage Therapist and Personal Fitness Trainer, works with clients one-on-one here at the spa and creates a custom exercise routine that targets the client’s specific fitness needs. Not only do clients get a personal trainer for an hour session here in our fitness room, but the routines are designed to incorporate exercises that can be done anywhere”, said Kerry. “Rhiannon Porteur is a licensed Permanent Make-Up artist who works out of Resolutions Skin Care & Laser Spa. She has worked wonders creating luscious lips, striking eyeliner and the perfect brows.”
For those interested in the spas more advanced features, there are plenty of options.
The professional medical staff has been trained and certified to perform services including the use of Botox, Dermal Fillers, Lipodissolve and a variety of Laser procedures.
“Most clients come in knowing what they want to change, but are unsure of how to achieve that goal,” said Kerry. “After a consultation with the doctor or one of the nurses, clients are better educated about the multitude of services we provide.”
For example, BOTOX keeps the muscles from contracting and it is used in specific areas on the face to contend with crow’s feet, furrowed brows and those lines on the forehead that just won’t seem to go away. In contrast, Dermal Fillers are used to soften the wrinkles that make those parenthesis lines around the mouth or to fill in those lines that form in and around the lips.
“Diane Anderson, RN, is such an artist when it comes to the dermal fillers. She really performs what we term ‘liquid face-lifts’ on our clients”, said Kerry. “It is also amazing to see the difference that the laser procedures make in our clients appearance. When trying to turn back the clock, most people tend to overlook the importance of skin tone.”
Dr. Gerard Ardron, MD, Diane Anderson, RN and Gunni Nevatt RN all use the laser to achieve various results such as diminishing the appearance of brown spots, red capillaries our even laser peels to soften wrinkles or acne scars. There has also been a lot of buzz about Lipodissolve.
“This is a great thing that is out on the market now as a non-surgical alternative to liposuction,” said Kerry. “It is a pretty impressive method and those interested can receive injections by our medical staff. So for those who are working out and they just can’t get rid of their love handles or that double chin, Lipodissolve might be the answer.”
Yet Resolutions goes far beyond just giving someone their desired treatment.
“We really take a personal interest in the people that come in here and make sure that we are giving them the information they need,” said Kerry. “We educate them on their skin and how to care for it. We let them know how often they should get a certain procedure and recommend products that will help to maintain the results. There is no miracle cure for aging, but there are definitely tools to slow the process.”
Resolutions has become known for its family atmosphere and the relationship between staff and customers has become a close community.
”It’s really a great place to work”, said Kerry. “We all get along so well and really care about each other and our clients. I think that really translates into the atmosphere of the spa.”
“We are all friendly by nature and we work hard to provide a safe environment for our clients so they can feel comfortable with their treatment options”, added Debi.
For those interested in becoming a part of this caring community, Resolutions offers a private skin evaluation to help assess your overall skin cares needs and desires. It is also a great place to purchase gift certificates for your loved ones.
“Look for our wonderful spa packages that offer a custom facial, soothing body wrap and rejuvenating massage,” said Kerry. ”It’s not only a great thing to give to yourself but it’s a excellent gift item that many people purchase during the holiday season. It’s a fabulous way to lift someone’s spirits.”
Resolutions is open Tuesday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., but the staff has been known to be flexible with scheduling.
