Twain Harte Art and Wine Festival
Master juggler, Dana Smith in action! Although he’s performed since 1974, Dana still relies on a little help from the audience. Here, Haley French, 9, of Modesto, lends her assistance.

Unique, handmade arts and crafts were in the spotlight as over a hundred artisans gathered for the 31st annual Twain Harte Summer Arts and Wine Festival, July 26 and 27th. Appealing to festival-goers with diverse interests, the event featured performances by Latin/World Music troupe Alma Melodiosa; The Sultana Belly Dancers; Fiddler Tom Rigney – backed by his ensemble, Flambeau, playing snappy electric Cajun sounds; comic juggler Dana Smith, and a Peruvian new-age flutist. A full spectrum of entertainment! There was a classic car show, and a variety of delicious foods was served. Several local wineries participated in a Chamber of Commerce wine-tasting session called “Wine in the Pines.” The festival was presented by Fire on the Mountain Productions.
Dana and his performing dog, Lacey, whose death defying, Evel Knivel-style stunts thrilled the audience!
Tom Rigney, backed by his ensemble, Flambeau, fiddles frenetically and delights the audience with some highly entertaining blues and Cajun music!
Festival-goers were amazed and intrigued by the assortment of arts and crafts. Rick and Betty “Boop” Bacon of Sonora Meadows carefully examine an all-metal, iridescent butterfly yard stake at the Twisted Sisters metal sculpture booth.
