“I have four cats and they’re all rescued. I have one Siamese, one Tortie and two Tabbies. The Siamese opens my refrigerator and steals the lunchmeat. His name is Loki and he’s very good at opening doors. Loki is a Norse name, the god of mischief, and it fits him very well.”
– Sarah Cuthill, Sonora (crafts buyer/retail clerk)
“I have two yellow Labs. I have a ten-year-old named Shaste who started off yellow and ended up red. And I have a nine-month-old yellow Lab. We named her Bella. Both love to swim. My older Lab, Shasta; she could catch just about anything you could possibly throw at her – food, tennis balls, whatever. I’ve thrown balls at her extremely fast, and she just plucks them right out of the air. It’s quite amazing.”
– Mike Stone, Soulsbyville (pharmacy manager)
“My cat’s name is Cletus. He’s an orange Tabby, and I think he’s the best cat in the world because he drinks beer and plays fetch! His favorite beer is Pabst. He plays fetch with all his little squishy balls. My cat is like a dog, actually. I’ve never met another cat that plays fetch!”
– Ashley Page, Columbia (waitress/beer wench)
“I have one pet, it’s a “Blueberry Oscar.” It’s an African fish. He’s about six inches long. He like, looks at you and stuff. It’s weird. It has different colors like orange, blue, white and a grayish color. Orange eyes. It eats feeder fish like little gold fish, or little crawdads. When it’s hungry and it see’s me come home, he’ll swim all super fast ‘cause he’s hungry, and he’s telling me, ‘Feed me!’ I call him ‘Jay Dogg’ aka ‘Little Dibs.’ I named him after a guy who taught me everything about the business. He also had an ‘Oscar.’”
– Dan Monteverde, Twain Harte (restaurant/bar owner)
“I have fifteen ducks, three geese, four dogs, four cats and four horses. I work for my pets! Dakota, one of my dogs, mothers the geese and the ducks when they’re babies. And she will protect them. She’s the only one allowed in their pen. She’s their mother and they look up to her. She’s special.”
– Sandy Cedergren, Long Barn (grocery cashier)
